After School Academy

The After School Academy (ASA) strives to create a safe and enriching environment for at-risk students to grow and learn outside of the classroom.  Students enrolled in ASA are recommended by their teachers to help them meet state and local academic standards in reading, math and science.

Hours of Operation

ASA at Saluda Elementary will begin on Monday, September 19.

ASA will operate Monday-Thursday from 3:10-6:00pm.

ASA is only open on days that students are in school for full days.

ASA is closed on holidays and half days.

Attendance Policy

Due to a limited number of student slots, Saluda’s ASA has an attendance policy.  If a student does not attend a minimum of four (4) days during a two (2) week period, his/her slot will be given to the next student on our waiting list.

Students must stay from 3:10-4:30pm to be counted present for the day in ASA.

You may pick your child up anytime between 3:10 and 6:00 by signing them out. Please list all persons allowed to pick up your child on the application given; otherwise we will not release your child unless you call the school or After School Academy and give verbal permission.

Late Pickup Policy

Guardians who pick students up after 6:00pm will be fined $1 per minute late starting after 6:05. Late fines are subject to director's discretion and cannot be increased but may be decreased. Late fines that are not paid within ten days of issue will result in student suspension from After School.

If you arrive to pick up your child between 4:30-5:30pm, please park in a marked parking space in the bus parking lot.  Please do not park in the middle of the parking lot, as our buses will need those spaces to park. Please be sure your child(ren) walk with you from ASA to your vehicle each day.  Children are not to be in the bus parking lot unattended at any time.

Daily Schedule

During ASA, students receive a snack and then go on to homework time, where After School staff, as well as teachers and community tutors, help students to complete their homework.  Parents should always check and sign the yellow communication folders each night, even when students complete homework during ASA.  After homework, students participate in free time, games, planned activities, clubs, and S.T.E.M.-based (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) enrichment activities.

All school rules apply to After School and are expected to be followed by all participating students.
